Teen Tech Night

Hey everybody!! Welcome to Teen Tech Night at the Centralia Public Library!!!

March 6th through the 12th is the official Teen Tech week. Teen Tech week is part of the Young Adult Library Services Association which is a group from ALA which stands for American Library Association. The point of Teen Tech week is for libraries to throw open their physical & virtual doors and show their communities all the great things they're doing for teens with technology.

I hope you are enjoying this event! Please leave a school appropriate comment on what you think about the event as well as any suggestions you have for improving or doing something different for next year's event.

Hey guys! Hope your holidays went great!! Mine were! I have a 3 year old and a 6 month old and my 3 year old was the perfect age this year! she was super excited about everything that Christmas entails!

I read some great books in December!

the first one was Matched by Allie Condie. This book is first in a series. here is a description from goodreads.com about this new book!

Summer Reading Program

Summer Reading Program is under full swing! We will be having a Themed Costume party this Friday June 18th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Come dressed as your favorite water themed character. Examples include: Sailors, people at a luau, pirates, sea creatures, mermaids, vacationers, etc. We will be making crafts, making food and playing some games. You won't want to miss this event! New Moon party tonight! We have 45 kids signed up to come! Isn't that awesome! Really excited to see the New movie...I wonder how many of you went to the midnight release last night? or are going tonight after the party? I am planning/hoping to see it on Tuesay (my day off!) if all goes as planned. I heard it was awesome though!

Our party tonight starts @ 5:30 and will go to 8 p.m. You must be signed up through your school library and you must have received a ticket to get in tonight.

We will be watching Twilight and eating pizza as well as doing trivia questions and giving away prizes! You won't want to miss this!

So those are the books I read in October. lots of good ones. I really, really like Fire and Catching Fire. Similar titles but 2 totally different books. I also loved The Van Alen Legacy and was glad it tied up some loose ends so you weren't totally left hanging until the next book!

FYI we are having a New Moon party at the Public Library for the release of the new movie. we will be watching Twilight and eating pizza and giving away free awesome prizes! so don't miss it! It's Nov. 20th from 5:30 to 8. so you will have plenty of time to come to the party and then go see New Moon in theaters! I am so stoked to see this movie ! Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Pictures as promised!! this was an awesome experience. To meet a New York Times best selling author was pretty awesome. she was a great speaker and I loved listening to her answer everyones questions. Someone even asked her if she believed in vampires!?! It was crazy! Read the new book, The Van Alen Legacy! GREAT book!

My favorite book this month was Hunger Games! The story line was crazy but you had to keep reading to find out who lived and who died! This book was definitely a 5 out of 5. a must read!

Melissa De La Cruz!!

So I am extremely excited about meeting author Melissa De La Cruz. I LOVE the blue blood series as well as her other books: The Au Pairs series and Angels on Sunset Boulevard! She will be in St. Louis on Oct. 6th...signing books, selling books and she will also read from The Van Alan Legacy (the newest blue bloods book). I have never met a big time author before and I am supper stoked for it to happen! I have even convinced a few friends who love her as well, to come with! I will let you know how it goes and hopefully post pics as well!

So as you can see I read alot of books in august. Though I do have to stay some of them were not very big books. My favorite was definitely Graceling by Kristin Cashore. I am excited to read the next one that comes out in October! I also like Prphecy of the Sisters by Michelle Zink.

Now for which ones I liked best :)
1. I ABSOLUTELY loved Twenty Boy Summer. I think it's the romantic in me that just could not get enough of this book! This book is about a 15 year old girl that looses one of her best friends that she just happens to have been in love with. But here is the twist, no one knows except the boy she is in love with and he's dead. Read this book if you want to find out more. Leave a comment and let me know what you think of it!
All of these were really good except for I didn't really care for A Map of the Known World. All the others I really liked!

Murder Mystery Night

Summer reading program will be winding down shortly here at the Centralia Public Library but before it does we are going to have a Murder Mystery Night here at the library. For kids going into 5th grade up to youth going into 12th grade.

It's from 7 to 9 p.m.

Middle school will be on the 17th from 6 to 8 p.m.

Summer Reading Program!!

The Summer Reading Program is about to get under way!! This year's theme for middle school and high school is Express Yourself @ Your Library.

Sign up begins for the middle school on May 7th and for the high school on May 8th. I will be at your lunch shift for you to sign up. if you sign up you may get a chance to win a free prize!

The first event will be May 22nd from 8 to 10 p.m. here at the library. be sure to put your name on the sign up sheet if you would like to go. the theme is Gaming night. we will have video games, board games and computer games for your to play with. Snacks will be provided.

TWILIGHT PARTY!!

I just wanted to let you all know about our Twilight parties coming up soon!!

March 26th will be for High School age youth.

High school library 6 to 9 p.m.

free food! giveaways and activities. if you want to make a t-shirt be sure to bring it with you.
We will watch the movie and hang out

March 27th will be for Middle School youth grades 7th and 8th

PUBLIC library 6 to 9 p.m.

free food! giveaways and activities. Also bring a shirt if you would like to design a Team Edward or Team Jacob shirt!

Middle schoolers: we will be at your lunch shift on March 12th so you can start signing up then. You must bring $2 when you sign up. this will cover t-shirt making expenses as well as food.

High school students: stay tuned...we will be at your lunch shift to for sign-up

This should be a AWESOME time! If you LOVE Twilight, like I do, then this event is for you!

Twilight movie!!

Sooooo, I saw the twilight movie opening night and it was awesome! I thought it followed the book very closely. I couldn't think of any important scenes that they left out...could you? At first, I wasn't digging Edward but as the movie started going he started to grow on me. He has a very contagious smile, wouldn't you say!?! I loved the chemistry between Edward and Bella. the tree scene was one of my favorite parts! it was very romantic! and the part where he stopped the car!!! how cool and romantic was that! lol So let me know what you thought of the movie and what your favorite scene was! I can't wait for the next one! Hopefully it doesn't take to long to come out.

So for those who love Stephenie Meyer's twilight books, I am going to take a wild guess and say you are excited to go to the movie tomorrow! I am soooooo excited I can barely stand it!
